CLOUDVEIL MOUNTAIN WORKS, LLC
Based in Jackson Hole, Cloudveil is an industry-leading designer of technical outerwear.
Jalex Group acquired a majority stake in Cloudveil in 2002. By partnering with the Founders, Jalex was able to allow the Founders to focus exclusively on sales growth and product development, while Jalex took over building out and running the administrative infrastructure to allow the Company to successfully and seamlessly grow revenue by close to four times in fewer than three years.
Cloudveil was acquired by Sport Brands International, parent company of Fila, in 2005.
OURAY SPORTSWEAR, LLC
Ouray Sportswear (pronounced “your-ay”) is an elite designer, decorator, and distributor of customized casual apparel and headwear to an ever-growing list of retail customers in the Destination/Resort, Collegiate, Golf, and Corporate (Mass Retail, Advertising Specialties, and Private Label) marketplaces.
Jalex Group acquired 100% of the assets of Ouray in 2007. Jalex principals took over the day-to-day management of the Company, expanding into new markets, enhancing existing markets, and curating a larger, more market-relevant product offering, leading to exponential revenue growth and exceptional margins.
Ouray was acquired by TSC Apparel, a portfolio company of Centergate Capital in 2019.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Jon J. Boris | Managing Partner
Jon Boris is a founding member of the Jalex Group. Mr. Boris has extensive experience in corporate finance and capital markets and is responsible for transaction sourcing and deal execution with particular focus on the financing and acquisition strategy.
As part of the Ouray investment, Mr. Boris took over as Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for global corporate strategy, financial oversight, and operational oversight. Under his tenure, Ouray quadrupled revenue and increased EBITDA margins to industry-leading levels.
While overseeing the Cloudveil investment, Mr. Boris was responsible for financial planning and budgeting; establishing new strategic partnerships with lending institutions, trade services companies, and international distributors; and working as part of a four-person senior management team to analyze and guide the direction of the company. Additionally, he managed the process of selling the company.
Prior to founding Jalex, Mr. Boris was a member of the Corporate Finance Group of ABN Amro Securities, LLC (previously ING Barings, LLC), where he was responsible for public and private financings and M&A engagements for middle-market firms in the consumer, retail, and leisure services spaces. Earlier in his career, Mr. Boris worked in a similar capacity with EVEREN Securities’ Emerging Growth Group, assisting high-growth companies in the Technology and Business Services sectors with securing corporate financing.
Previously, Mr. Boris was a Vice President in the Debt Capital Markets Group at Prudential Securities, Inc., where he was responsible for the pricing, trading, and marketing of all primary-issue corporate bonds, preferred stocks, and medium-term and structured notes.
Mr. Boris holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
